Polina Pohozha (1997, Ukraine,Odesa) is a performer, composer,and sound artist, also activelyengaged in photography and visualarts, based in Sweden. Due to thefull-scale Russian invasion ofUkraine, she was forced to move toSweden, where she began to studymusical composition and activelycontinues her musical activities.Her musical practice is currentlyfocused on the search for identity,both national, musical, and deeplypsychological, through experimental solo and group improvisation,musical composition, and piano performance. As a composer, Polinaperceives sounds through their relationships and connections to eachother, mixtures, and musical timing, improvising through narrativestorytelling that is triggering her in the moment of writing.She actively performs solo and as part of various ensembles, such asKult. and VARP. In February 2024 VARP released their first experimentalalbum, "Deal with Bergman" (label RIGHT BRAIN RECORDS), whichexplores group improvisation and experiments with sound. As a pianist,she was a laureate of Ukrainian and Polish competitions such as the P.V.Povzun Chamber Music Competition, VII Miedzynarodowego KonkursuPianistycznego im. Maurycego Moszkowskiego, «Horizon of Classics» andother. She participated as a performer/composer, at international festivalssuch as 2days2nights, Dzenzelivka Classical Week, Kontinent Dalsland,Paskfestivalen Gotland, Ljudvågor, Bergmanveckan, FRST, Festspillene(Klassik link) and International Young Composers Academy Ticino. As acomposer, Polina has worked with Musikkonservatoriet Falun, GotlandsMusiken, Ivo Nilsson, Jörgen Pettersson, Uppsala Kammarsolister She wasan artist-in-residence at the Bergman Estate on Fårö, IMPROVISATIONRESIDENCY at Casa della Musica San Michele.
