Biografi / Biography:
Casey Moir is an Australian born, Swedish based vocal-artist, improviser, and composer of experimental music. Integral to her artistic practice and expression is her investigation into the multitude of sounding possibilities of the voice and an exploration into all things experimental - objects, structures, sounds, notation, characteristics and more. She is also keenly interested in the concept of space and room, working often with the creation of spatial experiences.
She is founder, member, and artistic director of the experimental 5-piece Viva Vocal Ensemble. She performs regularly with her solo project, 13-piece ensemble Été Large, trio 3 grams, duo Bang and Howl, and is a member of interdisciplinary group CLEC working with concepts, improvisation, live art/illustrations, and room.
She holds a Bachelor of Improvisation (2011) and a Master of Experimental Composition (2021) from the Academy of Music and Drama, Gothenburg, Sweden. Working both in the field of improvisation and experimental music, she is active on the Swedish and international scene. She has performed at festivals such as CTM Berlin (DE), Now Now Festival (AU), SoundOut (AU), J.O.E. Festival (DE), Sound of Stockholm (SE) and more.
In addition to her ongoing projects, she has often been invited to collaborate in various short-term projects, including City Composing with contemporary ensemble Mimitabu (SE), interdisciplinary music and video art project UnStumm (DE/SE), and with the Gothenburg Dance Company in their multi-space installation performance Surburbia 37° under the leadership of choreographer Pedro Goucha Gomes. She has composed works for contemporary ensembles such as Curious Chamber Players, and premiered new works of living composers, such as Israel Martinez (MX), Christian Kesten (DE), Joshua Wat (HK) and Arvid Kraft (SE).
